Danny Stroud Announces Run for Congress in Colorado's First Congressional District
Denver, CO – Citing his concern about the absentee representation in Colorado’s First Congressional District, local businessman Danny Stroud formally launched his candidacy for Congress in Colorado’s First Congressional District today. Stroud cited the following concerns that compelled him to run:
- The district’s current lack of representation on issues regarding the preservation of economic freedom and equal opportunity for all Americans, as envisioned by the Founders
- A run-away federal government that has accumulated a $15 trillion debt and continues to overspend without regard for the burden this places on future generations
- Diminished economic strength at home and and an impaired influence abroad due to financial mismanagement and flawed foreign policy
- Excessive regulation stemming from the unchecked growth of government
- A lost understanding of American exceptionalism at the highest levels of our government
"Congress is not doing its job. As the Chairman of the Denver County Republican Party and a local business owner, I have witnessed first-hand the way government is strangling our businesses and saddling our kids with an unimaginable financial obligation," said Stroud. "I am appalled by the runaway growth in the federal government, explosion of our national debt, and so many hardworking Americans unemployed and underemployed. I never expected to see our nation heading so fast in the wrong direction. This must stop. We deserve better."
Stroud knows how to lead organizations, grow businesses, and create jobs. He has never been afraid to tackle tough situations and do the right thing for the people and companies that need his help.
After graduating from West Point, Stroud served in the US Army, learning and practicing leadership, problem solving, and ethics at the very basic levels. Stroud left the military in the 1980s to pursue a business career and to combine his leadership with ethics and business innovation. Stroud has been involved as a senior executive in starting, financing, and growing large, successful companies in the wireless and internet business sectors. In 1999, he was nominated by Silicon Alley magazine as one of the top 100 technology executives in New York. In recent years, Stroud has been frequently called upon to help companies grow or work out of troubled situations, often as an interim CEO. In 2010, he formed a new company focused on helping large commercial, aerospace and industrial companies manage their infrastructure and business processes.
Stroud intends to bring his leadership, ethics, and business savvy to Washington in 2012.
"I am running for Congress because we need representation, now more than ever, that is solely focused on Coloradans’ needs. We can no longer endure those that curry favor with special interests and party leadership to propel their careers and advance an out-of-touch agenda,” Stroud added. “We need a Congressman with the courage to meet with constituents regularly and have the moral courage to fearlessly tackle the tough issues our country faces. The First Congressional District of Colorado has not had that for a long time.”
